Background

Born in Columbia, Missouri, I grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with two sisters and parents who were active in their community and church. I was active in my church youth group and in a variety of school activities.

I married Raymond H. (”Robin”) Feierabend, Jr. in 1975. We moved to Greensboro, North Carolina for Robin to complete his family practice residency training.

In 1978 we moved to Dungannon, Virginia where Robin served as a National Health Service Corp physician at Clinch River Health Services. Robin served on the Dungannon Development Commission, and was elected to the Town Council. I served on Dungannon’s first planning commission.

We chose to move to Bristol, Tennessee in 1982 for Robin to become a faculty member at ETSU College of Medicine’s Bristol Family Practice Residency program. He has continued as a full-time faculty member there and served as program director of the residency for 15 years. Besides his professional, teaching, and administrative roles, Robin has been active in the community as a volunteer and Board member of numerous organizations, including the Crisis Center, Healing Hands Health Center, River’s Way, and Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center and Park.

We have three children: Karl, Neal, and Kristin.  All three children attended Avoca Elementary, Vance Middle, and Tennessee High Schools. Karl graduated from Furman University in 2001. He received his PhD in atmospheric chemistry in December 2005 from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He is married to Kristin Ann!  They will be moving to Wooster, Ohio this summer where Karl will begin teaching Chemistry at the College of Wooster.  Neal graduated from Furman in 2005 and is currently working at the Social Science Research Center at Mississippi State University, and also plans to graduate with a MA in Economics in 2009. Kristin graduated from Furman University in 2008 with a degree in Sociology and serves in Americorps in Montpelier, Vermont, working with the city planning department.
